HEALTHCARE

The Virginia Regional Medical Center (VRMC) is owned by the City of Virginia and is one of the largest employers in the area.  VRMC is an 83 bed hospital and 116 bed convalescent center that provides health care and medical services through an active medical staff.

Based on patient admissions and scope of services, the VRMC is one of the larger health care facilities in Northeastern Minnesota.  The Virginia medical community has historically provided primary and secondary medical services to a population of over 53,000 located within a 30-mile radius and specialized referral services are provided to an additional 44,000 people residing within an approximate 70-mile radius of Virginia.

In addition to the VRMC, Virginia offers a large selection of physicians, both family practice and specialized practices, home health care, a regional mental health facility, full dental services, a regional rehabilitation center, full chiropractic services, and numerous other medical services.

Virginia has a 110 bed nursing home in addition to the convalescent home at the VRMC.  There are also numerous  assisted living facilities, adult day care and foster care centers, medical equipment suppliers and home health care providers.
